Sherwood is fortunate to have excellent workforce training programs available from multiple sources. Each training facility provides opportunity for individuals to add knowledge and skills that focus on what local businesses and industry need in a qualified employee. Three examples of these facilities are Pulaski Technical College, Arkansas State University Beebe, and the Little Rock Air Force Base University Center.
Pulaski Tech provides testing for the Career Readiness Certification, a program of the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services. Through their Business and Industry Center Pulaski Tech offers industrial training, computer applications training, and customized training. This allows business leaders to request developing customized training to meet specific needs. The professional staff of the Business and Industry Center provides assistance in all steps of the training process. The Business and Industry Center can match an organization’s needs by adapting an existing program or developing a new one. The training may be tailored for a particular skill level, body of knowledge, company equipment or learning style of the trainee. This flexibility makes Pulaski Tech a valuable asset to Sherwood.
ASU Beebe offers continuing education through their Continuing Education/Workforce Development Department. Classes can be customized for ten or more students and held at night, weekends or online. Customized classes are conducted on all campuses including at the Little Rock Air Force Base.
Accelerated eight week term classes are offered by six different universities. Both undergraduate and graduate courses are offered.
